Your details, plainly.

What we collect, why we collect it, where it's kept, and how to get it changed or removed.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, the date you joined and which page you joined from (for example, a printable recipe card).
  • E-book orders. The email address you give at checkout, what you bought, the amount paid, the date, and a private download link. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and never reach us.
  • Free-code orders. The code used and the date it was redeemed.
  • Community accounts. Your display name, email address and password (stored scrambled — we can't read it), plus anything you post or reply on the community board, which other visitors can see.

We don't collect your address, phone number or date of birth, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Why we use it

  • To send your e-book download and anything about your order — corrections, a replacement link, or a new edition you're entitled to.
  • To send The Botanical Note, only if you signed up or ticked the box to receive it.
  • To run the community board and keep it safe.
  • To understand, in general terms, which recipes and pages people find useful.

Buying the e-book does not sign you up to the newsletter. You'll only get marketing emails if you choose to.

Where it's kept

Your details are stored in our website's secure database, hosted by our website platform (Floot). Payments are handled by Stripe, which also keeps a record of your purchase and the email you used. If we use an email service to send the newsletter, your email address is shared with that service only so it can deliver it. These providers may store data on servers outside Australia. On the website itself, only the owner's admin account can see these lists.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your details, and we don't share them with advertisers. We share them only with the service providers above, so the site can work, or where the law requires it.

If the business is sold. In the event the business is sold, all email addresses on the subscriber list will go to the new owner. You can still unsubscribe at any time.

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. You can also leave the list any time on our unsubscribe page. Unsubscribing doesn't affect your e-book — your download link keeps working.

Seeing, fixing or deleting your details

Message us on Instagram or X and we'll tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. We may need to keep basic order records for tax purposes.

Cookies and your browser

We store a few small settings in your browser — for example, that you've dismissed the banner, or that you've already subscribed so we don't ask again — and a sign-in cookie if you have a community account. We don't use advertising cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
