A true cold-process shampoo bar means working with lye. This version uses a ready-made SLS-free melt-and-pour base so you get a solid bar in an hour, with honey and aloe folded in for softness.
Method

Cube the base and melt gently until just liquid. Do not boil.

Stir in honey, aloe and argan oil until fully combined. Add essential oil.

Pour into moulds, mist the surface with a little isopropyl alcohol to clear bubbles, and leave to set 1 hour.

Unmould and let cure on a rack for 2 days — the bar lasts longer.
How to use
- Rub the bar directly on wet hair 3–4 strokes, lather with fingers, rinse.
- Keep on a draining soap dish between uses.
Tips
- Each bar replaces roughly two 250 ml bottles.
