Citrus peel oils dissolve grease; vinegar dissolves mineral deposits. Infuse one in the other and you have a spray for range hoods, splashbacks and greasy benches.
Method
- 1
Pack the peels into the jar, cover with vinegar, put the lid on and leave in a dark cupboard for 2 weeks.
- 2
Strain. Dilute 1:1 with water in a spray bottle.
How to use
- Spray, leave 1 minute, wipe. Rinse food-prep surfaces with water.
Tips
- Keep a jar in the freezer and add peels as you go until you have enough.
Safety
- Never use on marble, granite or other natural stone — the acid etches it.
- Never mix with bleach products.
