Dissolvable sheets are simple but fussy. This is a troubleshooting recipe: a tested base paste plus the rules that make the difference between a sheet that dissolves and a gummy lump in the drum.
Method
- 1
Thickness: 1–2 mm. Hold a dried sheet to the light — you should almost see through it. Thick sheets don't dissolve in cold water.
- 2
Heat: never above 50 °C. Heat ruins percarbonate and softens PVA.
- 3
Humidity: dry on a low-humidity day or in a dehydrator. Tacky sheets after drying = ambient humidity; add a silica sachet to the tin.
- 4
Storage: airtight tin, cool cupboard, use within 6 months.
- 5
Dosing: a 6 × 8 cm sheet at 2 mm holds about 2 teaspoons of detergent — one sheet per normal load.
